ok so my buddy has this motorhome he bought.....we call her big shirley

http://i.oodleimg.com/item/2559001766t_1x424x360f?1325325908

he got her cheap ($5K and is a CAT powered diesel pusher)

she needs a little updating and on the Daytona trip (her first big excursion) we found some issues....

the CD player in the dash doesn't work....and we had no cassette tapes for the FLIP DOWN FACE tape deck in the bedroom.

Being she has a DVD player and TV up front we are wanting to tie them into the stereo for sound.

but we want to do it on the cheap....

We are guessing she will get some cheap ass $100 cd player put in and he has a Bass Tube laying around and maybe an amp.....

Do you think this will be ok? With 25 year old sony speakers will it just sound crap still?

BTW looks like the trash compactor is getting removed and a cooler for a pair of 5 gal corny kegs installed along with a tap inside and outside. Carpet and existing wood floor migh tbe coming up for some new laminat wood flooring (easy to clean up then) and some simple bunks fabbed up that can be easily removed for sleeping in. The goal is to kind amake this a tailgaiting roadtrip beast......but capable of being sold in the future....

oh and the decals are peeling off so we are looking for some ideas. We thought about a wrap but it will prob be too pricey for something this large. we have thought about a respray....A-Team van colors have been tossed around....complete with wing...

No offense, but they sound like crap when they are new. I would replace the speakers and go with a deck with some kind of dual zone. You will want to run it off an accessory switch in the dash. Most have Video out, and have the capbability to display Video on the External Monitor and have GPS or anything else on the Double Din's screen.

Some RVs have two systems, on by the entry way and one in the dash that are by no means connected. If this is the case you will have to get creative. I would suggest making everything one system just to be simple.

Definately change those speakers. They are prob paper and if they really are 25 years old they are one crank away from death more than likely depending on how powerful the stock stereo is. If you want them to sound good Stuwart Radio is EP started carring Memphis. (If they are integrated into the car, if not (Stand Alone Speakers) just buy your standard JVC speakers from American)

Man 5k was a steal, sounds like it would be rather fun to build up.

not looking for an indash DVD player (we have to run 120V for the tv anyways so can just run the DVD player that is already in there)

didn't know if maybe we were better with some cheap home theather in a box instead?
