I'm doing some shopping for a nice HD Camcorder. Honestly, i'm lost- because i havn't even looked at any video camera for probably 5+ years. I havn't even USED a real video camera in about that long.

I've been doing some research online over the past few days. Again, i'm very very lost here. Went to an electronics store to look at things in person, and didn't really get a lot of help either.

My wants are this:

HIGH DEFINITION.
VERY GOOD VIDEO QUALITY.

everything else is kind of negligible. I want a video camera that is going to have a good crisp picture to it. If i'm walking around with it or moving around with it, or recording something thats moving- i don't want it to look like total ass. I understand that i'm not going to be able to go jogging with the damn thing, but i don't have the steadiest hand in the world, and i want something that's going to be pretty top of the line now, that will hold its own for quite some time.

My other main concern is hard drive camera vs flash memory camera. Obviously i know hard drive cameras will have a greater capacity, but at the same time, it seems that hard drive cameras cost more for lesser capabilities. For instance- hard drive cameras seem to have lower zoom capability, lower resolution, and lower megapixels, but cost 2-300 dollars more just because of the hard drive.

What can i expect out of a flash memory camera as far as capacity per gigabyte (minute/hour wise)

My budget for this is $800-$1000. This is more than enough to get a pretty high end residential use camera.

Any opinions, please throw them up here

flash memory is the safest way, every 4Gb card is good for about 1 hour

nanner, team up with gabe and have him work with you on cameras. i know that justin, who was working tonight, isnt as informative as the others that work in digital imaging. justin is a good guy but works mostly in mp3 or gaming.

I've used Kapoosh's Sony HD camera at midnight mayhem (dark out) I was very happy with the quality of the picture.

So +1 for Sony.

Awesome. Wife is off work tonight, so we probably are going to come back tonight and take a look again, and also hit up some other places too.
