Anyone know where I can find some headers for under $1,000? Looking to fit my chevelle, 1 7/8 tube with spreadport flanges. Ive looked almost everywhere. I found a set from Lemons for $1,300 for uncoated. Anyone in this area into building a set, or at least getting them mocked up, I can tig everything myself. I thought about building my own, but know nothing about running the tubes an keeping the lenghts right.
Throw up some suggestions if you have them.

You will be hard pressed to get a custom set made to fit your ride for under a grand..

Ive just got a old skool 420c.i Small block chevy. just built with an old 400 block, nothing hi tech. I just need the different flange pattern for my AFR heads.
Dynatech makes a nice set of step headers for my car. The have 1 3/4 tube out of the flange, steps to 1 7/8 with no collectors, for around $500. That would be perfect, but uses the standard bolt pattern flanges.

If the port spacing is the same then you could get someone to change the flanges. When we changed heads on the LSX in the Nova we changed flanges.
Those are 2 1/8" to 2 1/4" stepped headers.

Ive thought of doing that. But with the stahl pattern, there is no need for the step down tubes, they will allow the 1 7/8 tube right up to the flange. Only the stock pattern will allow up to 1 3/4 before there is interference with the bolts. I may be able to cut out the 1 3/4 as well as the flanges and just buy some different 1 7/8 bends.
Also, the expensive custom headers I have seen like what I need, are the style where you install the individual tubes, one at a time. I would think 1 piece headers would work if they make 1 7/8 tubes for the big block headers, right off the shelf.
