ford bellhousing patterns

ok so i feel about half stupid for askin

buddy of mine is lookin to pull the old 360 FE out of his highboy
what other motors have the same bellhousing bolt pattern

i am guessing it would be all of the FE series motors and the 460 big blocks and 400M

he really doesn't want to put another FE in there if he can help it

300 I6 I think it was has the same as the 390 if I remember right.

FE engines have their own bellhousings. 460's and 400's share another.

Good luck. FE's suck. I know where a 460 is and it could be turboed..........................

so any idea how hard it would be to swap a 460 in that truck
is there a bellhousing available in the 460 big block pattern for that old granny geared 4 speed that's in the truck now?

just trying to figure out what my buddies options are
as he always did hate that 360FE and wants a real motor in it

its been blown up and rebuilt multiple times
those damn things don't have a very good reputation for holding good oil pressure or having good oil flow

I want to say he tore up the main bearings in it

a 302/351 has bigger main bearings than the FE motors do??

I was thinking they had big ass mains and stuff which made them good work engines but bad for running them hard.

360's were junk, but I have always heard that the 390's were pretty mean.
