the truck needs some shocks. Anyone recommend any for a truck? I am tempted to go with some el cheapo's, unless someone has one that impressed them.

because of the quality of ride they help provide?
Stock replacement or something a little more stiff? KYB makes a great stock replacement. For a stiffer shock, go to Napa and get some "gas grande" shocks. They are the cheap replacements for 3/4 tons and will work on a 1/2 ton.

I put some Bilstein heavy duty on my truck. The ride is great, but a touch on the stiff side. Perfect with a little weight in the truck. The truck handles alot better to. I would recomend the regular bisteins if you want a cush ride. They are only about 140 bucks more for a set than cheapos. I figured they were the last set I would buy for the truck, so I spent the money.

I agree. Bilstein makes quality dampeners. ;) I have Monroe Reflex monotubes on my Silverado and they're a good/quality replacement shock absorber... but Bilstein > Monroe.

The ride on this truck means more to me than anything else honestly. Did you notice if those messed with your ride any..I was considering them

It still rides like a country cadillac w/ the monroe reflex units. ;)

Bilstein's made my '94 Lightning ride more like a sports car, very firm, but not harsh, went from riding like a 77 LTD to a new cobra stang....... Not sure if this helps you any, But I like them on my truck, and they were oem on the Gen2 Lightnings.....

I realize they serve two different purposes, but both should achieve what I am looking for
