Derby Days Cruise In

After talking w/ the Pekin Park Disrtict on many occasions they want to have a cruise in durring the Derby Days Festival. We've decided that Sunday May 11th will be the date. Times are approximately going to be from 12noon to 5-6PM. There will be big crouds, roped off parking lots for us to park, and so much more. This will be an advertised cruise, on CSS, and Derby Days fliers so expect a big turnout "weather permiting". So bring your toys, ride some rides, meet new people and lets have some fun!

everyone just park when we can. I may try to be there early to help with parking. This isn't only going to be CSS people crusing. The lfiers will be handed out this weekebnd at the parkland college car shows (possibly) and for sure I will be putting over 200 fliers in cars at the JC Whitney Car Show Sunday. I'll check to see if there is a cruise in this weekend where I can put them as well.

I didn't know if the place will already have music or not withthe carnival deal, but wanted to have a DJ to announce things. One other possibility is I'm looking into getting door prizes as well. Donations up to 20 or more door prizes would be killer. I can't do it without the help of others, So people are welcome to ask auto places and anything in between for door prizes, hats, cleaners, tshirts, etc...

I would also like to ask for volunteers to help with parking etc..

A few of us went out and checked everything out. Plenty of parking. There is only one way in to the parking lot for the cruise in sectionas they'll have the entrance off koch closed for Derby Day vendors. There will be signs posted for the cruisers, so they know where to go!

Oh and today at the JC Whitney Show, I talked to Toby, a manager there and was in charger of the show deal and he hooked me up with 100 Whitney Catalogs and 50 of there sister company Styling Trucks!!

So I'm off to stuff 100 more bags. Oh yeah got the 100 blimpie coupons as well. WOOHOO!!

Oh and also me and Dick Young, who's on here also and has the red with flames 1939 Chevy Deluxe Street Rod split up and threw a minimum of 380 flyers out and about in the cars and even bikes.

I would like to ask for at least 2 people to help parking. Especially if we get the old schoolers, to help them and everyone when backing up against the fence and the middle spots. I'm thinking they can just sit in chairs in the grass on the othe rside of the fence.

Also yesterday I picked up 100 JC Whitney Catalogs and 50 Stylin Trucks catalogs as well as 100 blimpie coupons and menus. Already stuff it all in the bags, lol.

I also picked up several door prizes at Whitney.

As far as setup up. I'll be getting there by about 10 am to get set up and ask that any and all vendors get there about the same time. As of right now, it's supposed to be 65 and just cloudy. So here's hoping.

And if I didn't post it already in here, I've also invited the Voodoo Kings Kustom Car Club to join us, so who knews. We're either going to see 20-30 of our own CSS peoples cars, or it's going to be stupid crazy turn people away because we have no room packed, lol.

I figure if it gets packed, we can overflow them in the circle drive where hey come in.

We have about 105 spots we can use all together. THat includes some in the grass. There is a grass lot behind the fence, but I never asked f we can use it if it gets full. Also there is only one way to drive behind that fence, and the soundstage and dj will be parked there as well as vendors. So can't really have them drive there.

Also to Jeff. You do not need your generator. The showmobile will have plenty of power. I just got off the phone with Joe. He said they use it for bands and concerts, so that's no problem with power.

David, Joe also told me they have signs made up directing traffic for the cruise in, regular parking, etc.. So we don't need signs. If you did them up already, we can use them for future cruise ins.

I will be there by 10:30 now instead of 10 for the previous times mentioned. I'm going to attempt to put the tent up. I may have to anchor it on the opposite side I wanted to, but it'll be anchored in full grass, rather than partial grass/sidewalk. I'll probably park part of the car under it as well.

I know for sure with the stupid winds, I'll need help with the tent and holding it until it's anchored, lol. Gotta love the weather!!

If the showmobile has an awning over the stage, the door prizes and goodybags and that may be up there. Joe said we can use the stage.

Well we picked the most noticble location in Bradely Park. Right up top next to main were everyone can see you coming in..

I mine you can walk Bradely Park in 15 minutes it couldn't be that hard to hit all the parking lots.. lol

I want to thank everyone who showed up to help setup. We actually were there from 10 (me 10:30) till 12:15pm in the rain and cold windy weather hoping the stuff stops. I personally gave the call to say it's not happening. You people who want to bitch, bitch to me for us leaving, but after being in the cold as rain and wind, it tends to get to you. We couldn't setup tents to display everything due to the winds, and the rain just wouldn't stop.

So we go get some lunch, and then gets calls saying that people are there and where is everyone. MAYBE, just MAYBE if people starting rolling in AT 12pm we would've stayed seeing that people were coming in, but when there are no signs of ANYONE coming we choose to leave. We all did go back about 2:00pm I do believe it was and ended up being about 20 or so cars there shooting the shit in the howling wind till about 3:30 or so then started to leave!!


Everyone that did come out got a goody bag from me. I handed out 48 goody bags!! So even peeps riding shotgun got one!

Im so sorry I didnt make it to the show. I had every intention on going even with it being Mothers Day I actually had the okay from the other half to go. But we had a turn in events. A friend of mine and neighbor got sick and was in the hospital. Knowing the severity of the situation I didnt want to be to far from him and his family. Early Sunday morning 5:41am they pronounced my friend dead. He passed away from Liver and Kidney failure. So decided to stay home and help his family though this tough time. Even though they all told me to go to the show because my friend wouldve wanted me to, because he knows my love for this sport. Ive never had a friend pass away and it seems to be tougher than when my Grandparents passed. Probably because he was only 34 years of age and I saw him and his family everyday.

Lol I don't wanna leave AT. I was just asking about a local club because I 'd like to hang out with some guys around here and have a good time, meet alot of new people and enjoy the local scene. It's hard to go to meets they have in wisconsin because it's a pain In the ass drive for me EVERY WEEKEND but It's not gonna make me quit, because I make to to alot of our meets and those guys are my boys.

AT is my primary crew and #1 priority and My Guy knows I'm loyal to him 100%, I don't think he would care if I had another sticker of another club on my car that was a local local club, cause other guys have other clubs and squads they are in. I don't want it to be conflict on either side. just throwing it out that AT will always be my #1 club, but I can put that same loyalty and activity into a local club as I do there. I would just have meets and gathering priortiy with them over this. Say HIN or any other show if both clubs were to compete or enter I would be On the AT side, if they were not there, then I would rep my other club. I just don't want this to cause problems, Just letting you know where I stand.
