Anyone ever deal with them on a warranty issue. The damn button on the mouse pad just kinda fell in the lap top, and my buddy who bought the exact same computer had the same thing happen. He bought his from best buy and they sent it off and it took forever. I am not real wild about being without my computer for a long time.

it is a gateway lap top that is still under warranty.

If they have the same CPU in-stock I don't see why you couldn't ask for an exchange. Of course you'd have to transfer all of you information over....

usually on laptop factory warranties you're in a tough spot...since the guys at circuit city or best buy may not be "allowed" to work on them depending on that particular manufacturers wishes...you might be SOL....

a trade in would be a cool thing though...im sure they could swap out hard drives...if its the same model laptop...easily done...if you can talk them into it

Typically they contract all laptop and small electronic work (digital cameras, camcorders, etc) out to other companies which would require them to ship yours out, and thus the extended wait time.

Some items (pending on brand) are exchangable but at my 3 years at best buy (a while back) i never saw a laptop come in for exchange unless it was under the 2 week return period.

Unfortunately Im going to have to say you're SOL on this one.....I'd say back whatever data you can up, and dont expect to see your laptop for 4-8 weeks....
